For the third year in a row members of the Somerville Alibrandis Baseball Team have taken part in the annual 100 Innings of Baseball. The game which takes over part of 2 days on Columbus Day weekend, was supported by Mike Powers, Sean Sullivan, Ted Dziuba and Mike Powers. The 100 Innings of Baseball Spectacular was born in 2004 with the arrival of Curt Schilling to the Boston Red Sox as a fundraiser for Curt's Pitch for ALS program to aid the fight against Lou Gehrig's disease. The world's longest game continues 100 straight innings and lasts about 33 consecutive hours, and to date has raised more than $600,000. This was the 10th Annual game in 2013, proceeds supported ALS through The Angel Fund. Walter Bentson, the umpire chief of the Yawkey Baseball League, continues his mission to fight ALS. For the firth year in this events 13 years, member of the Somerville Alibrandis Baseball Club took part in the annual Winterball Game at English High School. Winterball began as a concept in 2001 to extend the baseball season. Beginning in 2004, the game partnered with Toys for Tots and the United States Marines, requiring each player to bring a toy for a child-in-need. The tempature for the game on December 7th was 37 degrees. David Treska played in the game and Mike Powers coached this year due to injury. Alibrandis Honored at YBL 2013 Awards Dinner

The Somerville Alibrandis Baseball Club has been honored with awards that both have recognized the team and its players in recognition of the 2013 YBL Championship Season this past summer at the annual Yawkey Baseball League Hall of Fame Awards Dinner. Individual awards were given to Ted Dziuba who won his second consecutive Gold Glove Award at catcher and Mike Maguire won his third consecutive Gold Glove in the outfield. Dziuba also won his first Silver Slugger Award as the YBL's best hitting catcher. Brian Tanguy won his second Fireman of the Year as the best closer in the league. Bernie Driscoll won his second Manager of the Year award after leading the team to a 40 win season. David Treska was named the YBL Executive of the Year for the second time and was given a plaque in honor of his induction into the National Semi Pro Baseball Hall of Fame. The highlight of the individual awards was the induction of Mike Powers into the YBL's Hall of Fame. The team was also given awards for their division title, Franchise of the Year, Championship Awards for each player and the BoSox Trophy for the 14th time in the teams 24 year history. The YBL also honored Dziuba who played and Treska and Powers who helped with the administration of the leagues first ever Eastern Mass All Star Classic Championship. image

The BoSox Club Honors the 2013 YBL Champions!

The BoSox Club, the Official Boster Club of the Boston Red Sox, honored the 2013 Yawkey Baseball League Champions Somerville Alibrandis Baseball Club at its annual Awards Luncheon, this past September at the Newton Boston Marriott. The BoSox Luncheon is an annual event that the BoSox Club runs to honor all the Champions from all of the area amatuer local baseball leagues as well as Little League, American Legion, High School and College teams from the state. This was the 14th time that the Somerville Alibrandis Baseball Team have been invited to attend this very speical event. Team President David Treska, Sponsor Tony Alibrandi, General Manager Mike Powers, and Sal Mendonca were in attendance for the event and were presented with the Championship Trophy by Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Tommy Harper. image
